This workshop will be conducted by
LemaLabs , an a group of robotics enthusiasts from IIT Madras.
At this workshop, you will witness the demonstration of an autopilot system
used in aeroplanes. This has been developed from scratch at the Centre for
Innovation, IITMadras. This demonstration will be part of a lecture session
which will be followed by a hands-on session. In the hands on session, you
will learn about an interesting control systems' problem - Building a servo
motor from a DC motor.
Most of the work done by automation wing of an industry is focussed on
control systems. Control Systems is the backbone of most technical projects,
be it controlling an aircraft or sending a man on the moon! The use of
control systems in robotics is increasing rapidly with the emphasis shifting
from the conventional to more autonomous and intelligent robots. This
workshop is designed to introduce control systems and equipping you with the
fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge required for robotics. Our
attempt is to give you an insight into this vibrant field and provide you
with tools that get you started immediately.
The workshop is being conducted by LemaLabs, an education group incubated in
IITMadras. The faculty and student members of LemaLabs, have been involved
in several control systems' projects which include an inverted pendulum, a
self balancing bicycle, quad-rotor control to name a few. LemaLabs' members
were part of the team which represented India at the International Aerial
Robotics Competition(IARC) 2009 and 2010. IARC is the battleground where
elite teams from around the world compete for supremacy in aerial robotics.
